God Is Still In Control

Over the last couple of weeks, we have seen many changes.

We went from a land of freedom to a people being asked to stay home. In a move not previously seen in our lifetime, school campuses, churches and businesses across the nation have closed. Instead of going to class, our students are completing their education online. Seniors that were looking forward to graduating in May now wonder if they will have a ceremony at all.

Stores that a few weeks ago had an abundance of products, now sit with empty shelves and are rationing what we can buy.  Instead of meeting together with our church family, we watch and worship together online. We have been asked to practice social distancing and “stay home”.  I don’t know about you, but I am a social person, and I miss my work friends, my church family, and my family.  Scripture tells us to “be still and know that I am God”, but are we really ever still. Everyone is so busy with work, school, and yes even church obligations. Do we really take the time to “be still” in God’s presence and listen for His voice?

In a unprecedented situation, we are being asked to be still. Would God use a virus to draw you closer to Him? Would He use a virus to show His love and grace to a man or woman? Yes, yes He would.

I challenge you friends, to use this time to study God’s Word, pray for your lost friends and family, and wait for opportunities to share Jesus with them.  I challenge you to take this opportunity to strengthen your relationship with God.

Where are you in your walk with Him? Is He enough? If you can’t be with your friends or family, is God enough? If you don’t get that job you want so badly, will you trust Him to send you where He needs you to be? Listen for His voice friends. He created each of us for a relationship with Him. In the midst of all of this uncertainty, God is there and He’s waiting for you to be still.

Am I concerned with our situation? Yes, of course. I’m human. But, more than anything, I am comforted. I am comforted in knowing that this COVID-19, this pandemic, our situation did not take God by surprise. He knows our tomorrow and nothing happens that he is not aware or does not allow and in the midst of all of this craziness

Psalms 139:16
“Your eyes saw me when I was formless; all my days were written in your book and planned before a single one of them began.”

Luke 12:6-7
“Aren’t five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten in God’s sight. Indeed, the hairs of your head are all counted. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.”

John 10:27
“My sheep hear my voice, I know them, and they follow me.”

God is in control and He will not leave us or forget us.
