Common Questions

What should I wear?
Wear whatever you’re comfortable in! At Grand, you’ll see everything from jeans and t-shirts to dresses and button-ups. Most people dress pretty casually—think relaxed, not rigid. Whether you’re in sneakers or boots, joggers or khakis, you’ll fit right in. We care more about you being here than what you're wearing. Come as you are!
What is a typical serive like?
1. Warm Welcome & Community Time
People typically arrive 10–15 minutes early to greet each other—grab coffee, find a seat, and settle in before the service starts.

2. Casual, Contemporary Worship
A live band  leads modern worship music (piano, guitars, drums, orchestra, and even a choir! ), with lyrics displayed on screens. You’re encouraged—but never pressured—to sing, clap, or just listen and absorb.

3. A Biblically Rooted Message
A pastor presents an engaging, relevant sermon (usually 30 - 40 minutes) focused on Scripture and real-life application—spiritual takeaways you can use throughout the week.

4. Prayer & Connection
There’s time for group or individual prayer. Usually there’s an invitation to respond following the service—either to speak with someone or simply reflect. No pressure, just space to connect.

Overall Vibe & Length
  • Length: Typically about 60–70 minutes, start to finish

Do I have to be a Christian to attend?
Absolutely not! Everyone is welcome at Grand—whether you’re exploring faith, curious about Jesus, or have been walking with Him for years. We’re all about real conversation and genuine community. There’s no pressure, no prerequisites—just a space to ask questions, explore belief, or simply be a part of something welcoming. You belong here regardless of where you’re at on your journey.
What do you have for my kids?
At Grand, we love families and do everything we can to make church a great experience for every age.

We have fun, safe, and secure environments designed just for kids—where they’ll learn about Jesus in age-appropriate ways through games, songs, and stories they’ll love. Our team is background-checked and trained, so you can relax knowing your kids are well cared for.

That said, many families choose to keep their kids with them in the service, and that’s totally welcome too! We’re a church full of grace and understanding—so a little wiggle or noise doesn’t bother us at all.

Need a quieter space with your baby or toddler? We also have comfortable family rooms where you can sit together, watch the service live, and take care of your little one in a peaceful environment.

However your family rolls on Sunday mornings, there’s a place for you at Grand.
Where do I go when I arrive?
1. Main Entrance & Welcome Area
Most of our guests park in the lot off Grand Avenue and 39th street.  From there, you should be able to see our worship center and/or kids building (if you feel comfortable dropping little ones off!). Our worship center sits on 39th street.

Look for the front doors—this is where our friendly Welcome Team will greet you. You’ll find a coffee station, info desk, and comfy seating nearby.

2. Signage & Team Guidance
Our volunteer greeters will help point you toward:
  • Main auditorium for the worship service.
  • Kids check-in, if you’re dropping off children.
  • Family room, if you’d prefer a quieter spot with your baby or toddler.
3. Kids & Family Spaces
  • We’ve got age‑appropriate, secure rooms (from babies to elementary age) where your kids can learn and play safely.
  • Prefer to stay together? No problem! We also have a family-friendly room with soft seating and live streaming so you can be together in a quieter environment.

What does the speaker talk about?
On Sundays at Grand Avenue Baptist Church, the message is centered on Scripture and designed to connect with everyday life.

Whether we're in a teaching series (walking through a book of the bible) or focusing on a special topic, you can expect Bible-based truth that’s both encouraging and practical. The speaker typically shares for about 35–45 minutes, using real-life examples, stories, and insights to help you grow in your faith and take meaningful steps forward.

Whether you’re new to church or have followed Jesus for years, the messages are clear, thoughtful, and full of hope. Each week is an opportunity to be challenged, inspired, and reminded that God’s Word still speaks powerfully today.
Do I have to give money?
Not at all! We don’t require you to give anything to walk through the door. Sundays at Grand are completely free—your presence is the only thing we ask for.

We do share opportunities to give—usually on your own time before or after the service—so anyone who wants to contribute can help support our church’s mission, community initiatives, staff, outreach, and ministries. It’s always optional and done with gratitude—not obligation.

If giving is new to you or just feels uncomfortable, no worries—you’ll never be singled out or pressured. We simply believe that giving can be a meaningful part of generosity and gratitude for many people, but it’s wholly your personal choice.
Do you have coffee?
Yes, absolutely! We’ve got freshly brewed coffee ready for you on Sunday mornings.  It’s the perfect way to relax, mingle, and warm up before the service starts. Whether you’re a coffee connoisseur or a casual sipper, our hospitality team can’t wait to welcome you with a cup in hand!
