Dear Grand Avenue Baptist Family,

As Grand Avenue Baptist decides on our church's future governance on Sunday Morning, August 30th, we are deciding how our church will be organized to make wise decisions that further our church's mission. The twelve members of our Board of Overseers are unanimously recommending this future direction for the church. They are requesting that our church agree to this Directional Decision, which will establish this pathway and adopt new Constitution and Bylaws to support it. Because we have worked diligently on this task over the past months, we believe it is best for Grand Avenue Baptist moving forward.

This directional change clarifies that Grand Avenue Baptist Church is biblically based, mission driven, pastor led, and deacon served. The documents we shared with you include many details on how this will happen, but some details will not be stated in them; we will state and clarify them in our church's Policies and Procedures Manual as needed. We pray that at least two-thirds of our members who are present on August 30th will confirm the Board of Overseers' unanimous recommendation of this directional change. If this decision is confirmed, it will go into effect on January 1st, 2027.

Last night, at our on-campus outdoor worship service at the University of Arkansas in Fort Smith, our "Reach at the Amp" experience resulted in a powerful and inspiring time for college students. We are thankful to everyone who helped make this experience meaningful. To God's glory, 153 people participated in this experience, during which the Gospel was preached, and the invitation was extended by our Minister of College Students, Jonah Morrow. We had 12 people come to follow Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, and 6 were baptized after deciding to follow Christ. To God be the glory!

Finally, experiences like this are possible because of your generous giving through the summer months. In our 16-week summer financial goal of $900,000 to fully fund our Ministry Budget over these weeks, we know that after 12 weeks of giving, our people have already given $846,512, meaning we are only $53,488 away from reaching this goal. Thank you for your generosity and commitment to honor God in this way, and join us as we continue, week by week, giving to the Lord because we know this: We can never outgive God!

Our College Minister, Jonah Morrow, has accepted a position as Campus Pastor at First West Calhoun in Calhoun, Louisiana. His last day with us will be Sunday, September 6th.
